A Letter of Invitation

Dear Reader,

This is an introduction to a practice of engaged creativity currently known as E-4: Engagement, Empowerment, Emergence, and Evolution. This teaching, for individuals and organizations, engenders powerful generative action and the evolution of the actor’s state of awareness. E-4 has been under development for several years and we are currently in the process of introducing it to potentially interested parties looking for creative input and advice about the most useful future direction of this work.

We experience ourselves on two primary planes of our existence: our awareness and our actions. These two components of our experience cannot be isolated, and while this practice begins its discussion with the actions of the creative process, it includes a strong emphasis on the expanding and evolving awareness of the practitioner, what we would call the engaged awareness of the actor.

E-4 is evolving from a specific model of the world. The Arising World Model clarifies both the evolutionary state required for full participation and a way of being in the process that provides full engagement and empowerment. But it starts by engaging the participant where he truly lives---in his actions and participation with the world. By illuminating a proper relationship to the model’s expanded perception of the world, it provides us a new contextual awareness of who we are and how we must be to fully engage with our potential. The core of the teaching, the practice and the model, enables a more appropriate relationship to the arising world enhancing one’s ability to find true right action---the ultimate expression of one’s personal arising potential.

An experimental expression of this material was developed for the Templeton Foundation’s essay competition, “The Power of Purpose”. Here is an excerpt, an example of one voice of E-4 expressing the power of a human fully engaged with his life:

“We will learn to live in a state of not knowing what will happen next, but wanting to explore every nuance of the arising life force, as if we are catching the main current of a river and going powerfully with the flow into whatever experience it encounters. Every bend, every eddy, every drop is the glory of the result. It is a creative adventure, and not knowing the end result is part of the art of creativity, part of the practice of discovery.

So, we go forth to engage our purpose, not to save the world but to create it anew, to be joyous, enjoining, fearless, and awake; to see in every moment, from what we have attempted in our beautiful world, what happens next. To be fully engaged in this way is to find true power and joy in our lives and experience our purpose in the creative endeavor that is our world. To be engaged is to live up to the responsibility for our choices in every moment, and to be joyously experiencing what becomes of our ongoing endeavor to express the intent of the universe anew.”

For other expressions of E-4 (for individuals, business, developmental work, and artists) please explore the materials on our website: www.panttaja.com/e-4. On the site are essays targeted for various audiences which comprise an exploration of where E-4 can be taken and a search for its most natural evolution into the world. On the site you will also find a list of the colleagues involved in moving the material forward, and a few comments from people who have begun an engagement with the model.

We are interested in engaging a conversation for the purpose of exploring how this work might be of use in the world. If this seems of interest to you or to an associate, we would appreciate your contribution to this ongoing conversation.

Thank you for your attention to this material.
